Beginner vs. Beginner Ballroom (usually called just Beginner Ballroom by players) is presented to the spy as a map option, but is actually the Ballroom map with a specific set of four known missions: Bug Ambassador, Contact Double Agent, Transfer Microfilm, and Swap Statue. It is intended for games with two beginner players, to allow both players to acclimate to the missions and to balance the spy's initial advantage due to the sniper's learning curve. As both players become familiar with the game, the sniper gains a significant edge on Beginner Ballroom; since the sniper knows which four missions the spy will complete, it becomes easy for the sniper to camp a mission and look for the tells associated with it. Chris Hecker suggests that players move on from Beginner Ballroom after about 20 games.
